The seminar "JUNK SPACE | SPACE INVADERS" deals with the potential of AR gaming to manipulate and expand the built environment.

In a first phase, various spaces within the HfT building complex were captured that correspond to Rem Kohlhaas' definition of "junk spaces". These spatial situations were then isolated, analyzed and reinterpreted. In the second phase, these supposed "junk spaces" were positively reinterpreted using AR games and made perceptible to users in an interactive way: the space and the digital overlay merge into a new, holistic spatial experience.

"JUNK SPACE | SPACE INVADERS" explores the possibilities of (interior) architecture for the holistic design of physical and digital spaces. In the process, designers are trained in the hybrid potential of the built environment and new digital design tools are learned and explored.
